About the Practice

You Matter Counseling and Wellness was created with a simple belief: mental health care should feel human.

We wanted to build something different — a practice where clients feel heard rather than rushed, supported rather than judged, and comfortable being exactly who they are.

Our clinicians bring their own personalities, specialties, and approaches to treatment while sharing one common goal: creating a genuine connection with every person who walks through our doors.

We provide comprehensive mental health services for individuals and families across the lifespan, including psychotherapy and psychiatric medication management.

Whether you're looking for support for yourself, your child, your relationship, or your family, it all starts with you.

A person sitting on a hillside at sunrise with the words Your mental health is a priority. You deserve time, care, and compassion.

Why Choose Us

Mental Health Care That Feels Personal.

At You Matter Counseling and Wellness, we believe mental health care should be more than an appointment on a calendar. It should be a relationship built on trust, understanding, and genuine connection.

We take the time to see the whole person, not just a diagnosis or a list of symptoms.

  • You’re More Than a Diagnosis

Your story, experiences, strengths, challenges, and goals all matter. We take a person-centered approach to care and work with you to create a treatment plan that fits your life.

  • Connection Comes First

The relationship between you and your provider matters. We strive to create a space where you feel comfortable being honest, asking questions, and showing up exactly as you are.

  • One Practice, Multiple Paths to Care

From therapy to psychiatric medication management, our team offers different types of mental health support under one roof. When appropriate, our providers can collaborate to create more coordinated care.

  • Care for Every Stage of Life

Mental health needs can change throughout life. We support children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families, with care tailored to each person's developmental stage and circumstances.

  • We Listen Before We Treat

We don't believe in rushing to a solution. We start by listening, understanding what you're experiencing, and learning what matters most to you.

  • Your Goals Matter

Treatment isn't about fitting you into a predetermined plan. We work collaboratively with you to identify goals and approaches that make sense for your needs.

  • A Practice Built Around People

We've created a practice where clients can feel welcomed, respected, and cared for — not like a number, an appointment slot, or a diagnosis.

Because Mental Health Care Should Feel Human.

And you don't have to have it all figured out before you begin.

Questions People May Ask When Seeking Therapy

You don't have to have all the answers before you reach out.

Starting therapy can feel like a big step. You may have questions about what to expect, whether therapy is right for you, or how to know which provider is the right fit. We're here to make the process feel a little easier.

Do I have to be in crisis to start therapy?

Not at all. Therapy can be helpful whether you're going through a major challenge or simply feel like something in your life could be better. You don't need to wait until things become overwhelming to ask for support.

How do I know if therapy is right for me?

If you're struggling with your emotions, relationships, stress, self-esteem, life transitions, or day-to-day functioning, therapy may be worth exploring. Sometimes you may not even know exactly what's wrong — you just know you don't feel like yourself. That's okay. You can start there.

What if I don't know what to talk about?

That's completely normal. You don't need to prepare a list of things to say or know exactly where to begin. Your therapist can help guide the conversation and work with you to identify what matters most.

How do I choose the right therapist?

Finding the right fit matters. Consider a therapist's experience, areas of specialty, approach, availability, and the types of clients they work with. Just as importantly, you should feel comfortable, respected, and heard.

What happens during my first appointment?

Your first session is an opportunity to get to know one another. Your therapist will learn about what brought you in, your concerns, your goals, and what you hope to get from therapy. You'll also have an opportunity to ask questions and decide whether the therapist feels like a good fit.

Will my therapist judge me?

Therapy should be a space where you can be honest about what you're experiencing without fear of judgment. Our clinicians strive to create an environment built on respect, compassion, trust, and understanding.

How long will I need therapy?

There is no single answer. Some people benefit from short-term therapy focused on a specific concern, while others choose longer-term support. Your needs and goals can change over time, and your treatment plan can change with them.

Can I switch therapists if it doesn't feel like the right fit?

Yes. Finding the right therapeutic relationship is important. If your first provider doesn't feel like the right match, we can help you explore other options within the practice when available.

Can my child or teenager benefit from therapy?

Yes. Children and adolescents can experience anxiety, stress, sadness, behavioral changes, school difficulties, family challenges, and many other concerns. Therapy can provide them with a supportive place to express themselves and develop healthy coping skills.

Do you offer medication management?

Yes. Our practice offers psychiatric medication management in addition to therapy. Medication may be used as part of a comprehensive treatment plan when clinically appropriate.

Do you accept insurance?

We participate with a variety of insurance plans, although coverage and participation can vary by provider and service. We encourage you to contact our office or your insurance company to confirm your benefits before beginning treatment.

What if I can't afford therapy?

We understand that cost can be a concern. We offer insurance-based and self-pay options, and sliding-scale availability may be offered with select clinicians. Contact us to discuss your options.

Still Have Questions?

That's okay.

You don't have to figure everything out before taking the first step.
